The American Mountain Guides Accreditation Program

The AMGA is the national training organization for rock, alpine and ski mountaineering guides. Their primary goal is to raise the technical and professional standards of Mountain Guiding in the United States to a world class level.

Accreditation by AMGA regulates the profession of mountain guiding and instruction and offers clients a way of assuring themselves that accredited schools have a good safety management system in place.

Companies with appropriately thorough and well applied safety management systems are granted accredited status for a five year term. As of this writing, there are only 26 AMGA Accredited schools in the United States.
